Application Guide for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship 2022

The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, provided by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), invites applications from overseas Chinese language learners. This scholarship serves the purpose of satisfying the growing demands of the international community for qualified Chinese language talents, and facilitating international education of Chinese language outside of China. The applications to Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) in particular for such a scholarship should follow the guidelines below, a version with reference to the Application Guide for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship 2022 released by CLEC. Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (hereinafter collectively referred to as “recommending institutions”) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers for study of International Chinese Language Education or related majors at Chinese universities and colleges (hereinafter referred to as “host institutions”).

I. ELIGIBILITY

a) Non-Chinese citizens;
b) Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school;
c) In good physical and mental conditions, and with a good record of academic performance and conduct;
d) Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields;
e) Aged between 16 and 35 (as of 1 September, 2022), with the special allowance for the age limit of 45 for applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers and that of 25 for undergraduate student applicants.

II. SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS

A. Chinese Language Teacher Programs

a) Scholarship for Doctor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of OtherLanguages (DTCSOL)

The program commences in September 2022 and provides scholarship for a maximum of four academic years. Applicants shall hold a Master’s degree in majors such as Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Linguistics, or Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Applicants shall have a minimum score of 200 on the HSK Test (Level 6), and 60 on the HSKK test (Advanced Level).

Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

b) Scholarship for Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of OtherLanguages (MTCSOL)

The program commences in September 2022 and provides scholarship for a maximum of two academic years. Applicants shall hold a Bachelor’s degree, and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

c) Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of OtherLanguages (BTCSOL)

The program commences in September 2022 and provides scholarship for a maximum of four academic years. Applicants shall hold a senior high school diploma and a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

d) Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study

The program commences in September 2022, and provides scholarship for a maximum of eleven months. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.
i. For the area of TCSOL, applicants shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.
ii. For the area of Chinese Language Study, applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.

e) Scholarship for One-Semester Study

The program commences either in September 2022 or March 2023, and provides scholarship of a maximum of five months. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.
Only TCSOL is available. Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.

f) Scholarship for Four-Week Study

The program commences either in July or December, 2022, and provides a four-week scholarship. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.
For the areas of Chinese Study, Chinese Language plus Home-Stay Experience in a Chinese Family, and Special Four-week Program for Confucius Institutes, applicants are required to provide HSK test scores. The program may be organized and applied for by a recommending institution with 10-15 participants per group. Prior to the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with host institutions and such plan shall be submitted to CLEC for approval.

B) Scholarship for Online Programs

 a) Online Program for One-year Chinese Language Study commences in

September or March each year. A general Chinese proficiency test score of 180 in HSK (Level 3) is required, and HSKK scores are preferred.

b) Online Program for One-Semester Chinese Language Study commences in September or March each year. Generally, applicants must have an HSK score (no specific requirements for level or score).

III. COVERAGE

International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance (four-week study students are excluded) and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.

Only tuition fee is covered for Online Programs.

IV. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Online registration will be available from 1 March, 2022 on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application website (cis.chinese.cn).

Please log on to search for recommending institutions and host institutions; upload application materials online; and track the application progress, comments and results. Scholarship holders need to confirm with BLCU to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the scholarship certificate online, and register at BLCU on the designated date as per the letter of admission.

The Application Deadlines (Beijing Time) :

Apr. 15, 2022 (for those commencing in July)

May 15, 2022 (for those commencing in September)

Sep. 15, 2022 (for those commencing in December)

Nov. 15, 2022 (for those commencing in March 2023)

CLEC will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. Decisions will be made based on HSK and HSKK scores and levels, and in consideration of country distribution as well as other factors. The results will be published about three months before school starts.

v. Policies Regarding Currently Employed Chinese Language Teachers and Chinese Bridge Award Recipients

a) Currently employed Chinese language teachers:

Currently employed Chinese language teachers applying for the scholarships can be exempted from submitting Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) certificates if they can provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the institution where they work.

b) Chinese Bridge Award Recipients:

Applicants who have won the 2022 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in various Chinese Bridge competitions should submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to BLCU on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.

VI. Application Documents for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

For All Applicants:

a) A scanned copy of passport photo page;
b) A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK and HSKK tests (within the two-year validity);
c) A reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions.
d) A certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation)

For Degree Scholarship Program Applicants:

i. For DTCSOL students

a) An official transcript of the highest education study.
b) 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors or experts with equivalent professional and technical titles in relevant fields.
c) A 3000-word personal statement in Chinese (including knowledge of the intended field of study and research proposal).
d) The acceptance letter of the supervisor.
e) Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

ii. For MTCSOL students

a) An official transcript of the highest education study.
b) 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors.
c) A study plan (including CV, education background, Chinese language proficiency, personal statement on research ability, research proposal, and career plan) above 800 Chinese words.
d) Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

iii. For BTCSOL students

a) An official transcript of the highest education study.

Other Required Application Documents

Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.

For applicants under the age of 18, their parents should entrust a non-Chinese citizen residing in China or a Chinese residing in Beijing with the student’s guardianship, and provide notarized guardianship guarantee statement.

Note

Applicants for one-semester and four-week program scholarship who withhold X1 or X2 visa are not eligible. Passport pages will be checked upon registration. Those with X1 or X2 visa will be deprived of scholarship. All the consequences caused by providing false documents shall be borne by applicants themselves.

Additional documents will be required by BLCU on certain conditions.

VII. OTHERS

a) For major training plans and courses, please refer to BLCU admission website for international students: http://admission.blcu.edu.cn
b) Degree students are subject to the annual assessment according to the Annual Appraisal Procedures of International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.
c) For enrollment and other matters during the Covid-19 epidemic, please contact BLCU.
d) Students who fail to pass the pre-enrollment medical examination, withdraw from school midway, or fail to report to school or suspend their studies without permission will be disqualified for scholarship.
e) Each applicant can only apply for one scholarship provided by Chinese government. Multiple applications for different scholarships will be considered invalid and such applicants will be disqualified from scholarship.

Las Becas están dirigidas a personas físicas de nacionalidad española o de un país de la Unión Europea que acrediten su residencia en España y que cumplan con los requisitos específicos  exigidos para la modalidad de beca escogida.

Beca 2022 Universidad de Estudios Internacionales de Shanghái » – La Ruta de la Seda» Programa de becas del gobierno chino (Tipo B)

El Programa de Becas del Gobierno Chino «Ruta de la Seda» (Tipo B) es utilizado por las universidades chinas para seleccionar y reclutar directamente a jóvenes estudiantes sobresalientes de países de «la Franja y la Ruta» para estudiar en China. Los estudiantes que solicitan este programa deben presentar su solicitud directamente a la Universidad.

. Tipos de financiación, duración e idioma de instrucción

Categoría de financiación: solo para estudiantes de Maestría y Doctorado

Período de financiación: solo el período de estudio determinado en la carta de admisión, la fecha de asistencia a la universidad es septiembre de 2022

Idioma de instrucción: chino e inglés.

. Condiciones de la solicitud

1. Ciudadanos de los países de la Franja y la Ruta”, en buen estado de salud.

2. Requisitos educativos y de edad: Quienes vengan a China a estudiar una Maestría deben tener una Licenciatura y ser menores de 35 años, quienes vengan a China a estudiar un Doctorado deben tener una Maestría y ser menores de 40 años.

 3. Requisitos de idioma:

Los solicitantes de programas de Maestría y Doctorado impartidos en chino deben alcanzar el nivel 5 de HSK con una puntuación 180 o superior.

Los solicitantes de programas de Maestría y Doctorado impartidos en inglés deben obtener un IELTS 6.0 o superior.

★ Cumplir con otros requisitos para los solicitantes en la «Guía de admisión a la Universidad de Estudios Internacionales de Shanghái para estudiantes extranjeros».

. Proceso de solicitud

1. Inicie sesión en el «Sistema de solicitud en línea de CSC para estudiar en China» (inicie sesión en http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, haga clic en el ícono de «Inscripción de estudiantes en línea»), complete la información de la solicitud y confirme el envío. Lea atentamente el «Proceso de operación» y comience a completarlo, seleccione la categoría B de solicitud y el «Número de institución receptora» de la Universidad de Estudios Internacionales de Shanghái es 10271;

2. Inicie sesión en «Shanghai International Studies University – Sistema de solicitud en línea para estudiantes internacionales» (inicie sesión en http://apply.shisu.edu.cn/c.asp?action=student_sign, haga clic en «Registrarse» y luego en «Iniciar sesión» «) para completar la información de la solicitud y confirmar el envío;

3. La Universidad de Estudios Internacionales de Shanghái es responsable de revisar los materiales de solicitud en línea, organizar exámenes y entrevistas en línea y determinar los candidatos para la admisión (aquellos que van a ser admitidos pueden recibir becas del gobierno chino para estudiar en China si son aprobadas por el Consejo de Becas de China);

★La Universidad de Estudios Internacionales de Shanghái abrirá el «Sistema de solicitud en línea para estudiantes internacionales de SISU» desde el 1 de enero de 2022. Las pruebas escritas se organizarán alrededor del 15 de abril de 2022. Se entrevistará a quienes aprueben la prueba escrita.

Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarships (2022)

Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarships (Type A & B) is only available to new applicants who apply for Undergraduate, Master, and Doctoral degree programs.

Type A (Full scholarship): Available only for graduate programs. Covers tuition fees and accommodation fees during the regular years of study, and provides comprehensive insurance. Besides, the scholarship of living cost is given out every month after enrollment to the university, to M.D. students RMB 3000 per month, and to Ph.D. students RMB 3500 per month.

Type B (Partial scholarship): Available both for undergraduate and graduate programs. Covers tuition fee during the regular years of study and fee of comprehensive insurance.

BECAS ICO PARA CHINA 2022

El objetivo de este programa es el de facilitar a profesionales españoles y extranjeros residentes en España un acercamiento a China que favorezca las relaciones económicas entre ambos países.

El programa consiste en un curso académico en una prestigiosa universidad china durante el que se estudian chino mandarín y materias relacionadas con la economía de este país. Se otorgan 25 becas anualmente, conforme a los principios de igualdad, mérito y capacidad. Son requisitos ineludibles estar en posesión de una Licenciatura o Grado, el dominio del inglés, cierto conocimiento de chino mandarín y tener una experiencia profesional previa mínima.
